West Port have been working with Gadmon Industries for the past 4 years on the redevelopment of 57 Glengall Road. For the past few years, we have been working with the owner on the comprehensive redevelopment of the site, providing nine residential units, new B1 studio spaces and retaining the factory on the ground floor. The Victorian warehouse, though not listed, is of significant local interest and is to be retained and restored, extending upwards to create the new flats, with the main entrance in a newly created courtyard area.
This project is unique in that it sits within the Old Kent Road Opportunity area but unlike other developments nearby, the occupier has chosen has opted to keep the development to a smaller scale, retain ownership of the land and continue to keep his thriving business on the site. Through extensive dialogue with Southwark Council, the planning permission was granted in the summer of 2020 and the owner is keen to start construction works in the summer of 2021.
